Attributes That Make Red Clay A Different Tennis Court Type

If you play tennis, or even are just a spectator, you will be aware of that unique red playing service known as a clay court. This surfaces dates right back to the original game, and is particularly popular in the tennis playing countries around the Mediterranean.

There is no other surface quite like clay to have a game of tennis on. The strong red color is very attractive and literally makes tennis a whole different ball game!

We are all fascinated by both its appearance and the way that red clay changes the game of tennis. Here are a few snippets of information that you may not already know.

The serve and volley players who regularly record wins on other surfaces will often struggle on the red clay. To win on this surface you will be playing from the baseline with punishing ground strokes.

Those players who reign supreme on this difficult surface play most effectively from the baseline. They also rely on the strength in their ground strokes to win matches.

So why is the strategy for this game so different? Well, it is very simple, the clay is a thick and heavy surface which sticks to the ball and therefore slows it Down considerably.

So as where you are used to seeing a ball hit the surface then rise at great speed, you will be seeing the opposite happening on a clay court.

There have been some marathon tennis matches played on clay, and that has been because the ball has slowed as it hits the surface and given the player time to be able to reach it.

The games are generally a lot closer on clay as the points go on a lot longer with the slower ball being easier to reach.

Although the ball is easier to reach, the faster player will always have the advantage over their slower opponents.

Paintball – The Coolest Sport Ever

In my opinion, there isn’t anything more exciting than playing a rousing game of paintball. It is fun, fast paced and super fun (I know I said that already). In this article I’ll give you some reasons why paintball is a great sport.

Most of us as kids played tag or dodgeball growing up. Many people have played laser tag as well. Paintball can be described as an extreme version of tag, dodgeball, or laser tag. Imagine how much fun you had playing those games as a youngster, now take that times one hundred and that’s how I feel when I’m playing paintball.

Once the game starts, your heart will start racing. Seeing paintballs fly through the air, and hearing them fly by your head is pretty intense. Shooting an opponent with a paintball feels great too. If you don’t leave the game with a smile, you may be a zombie.

Many sports favor players that are within a certain age range or size range. Basketball favors taller people, and football favors huge people. People of all sizes and ages can play paintball and have fun.

One of my favorite parts about this sport is the customization part. You can play with any kind of paintball marker you want (money permitting). There are literally hundreds of different markers to choose from. You can play with a pump, electronic, mechanical, or one that is decked out to look like a replica of a gun. You can customize your gear how you want it.

Paintball is a great sport that is lots of fun to play. While playing you get a rush of excitement and after the game your face should be all smiles. Many of us played tag growing up. This sport can be called an extreme version of tag. Anyone that gets involved in this sport can create and play with their dream marker.

If you are searching for an extreme sport that doesn’t lack excitement, I strongly recommend that you get out there and try a game of paintball for yourself!

How To Stick To Your Resolution To Lose Weight.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the most frequent New Year’s resolution in the West is to lose weight. However, it is also the first New Year’s resolution most apt to be broken! Losing weight is not hard in theory, but practice is oh, so different. This is because it involves lifestyle changes.

Our bodies change as we get older and typically our level of activity decreases too. Maybe, we get an office job with a promotion, whereas we used to work ‘in the field’. But people in general, do not regulate their diet to match their change in circumstances. We sit behind our desks or in retirement and think we can still eat and drink like we did twenty years ago. Big mistake!

Luckily, there are dozens of diets available to help us reach our weight loss goals. There are the traditional calorie counting diets, as advocated by Weight Watchers; there are the ‘new era’ diets like Atkins, which have us counting carbohydrates and there are no end of fad diets which are frankly not worth wasting time discussing.

The choice of which diet you want to follow is all yours, of course, but it is well worth examining the main types of diet to see which one will suit you. Then you must decide whether you will require the help and encouragement of a weekly visit to a club or not, or whether you can get that camaraderie from an online club of slimmers, where you talk to fellow slimmers in the club forum online.

It is also worth fixing in your mind, why you want to diet. Is it to look better? Or to feel more comfortable in yourself? Or is it for health reasons? Or all three? Have a think about your reasons and let them motivate you. Whenever, you feel like packing it all in, remember your motivation. Get a book and journal your progress, but first write your motivation in bold capitals on the front page or cover. Keep it in front of you and read it out loud to yourself every day.

Consult some of the slimming sites online and work out a few key numbers like the average weight people are for your height, sex and body type and your BMI or body mass index. Write these figures on the first page of your book too and use them as the eventual goals.

You could produce a graph and plot your weekly weight to see how you are doing. Set realistic goals and targets. You can get heaps of free information from the Weight Watchers and Atkins websites or / and go to see your doctor for advice and leaflets.

Aim to shed something like 10-20 pounds in the first month and eight to ten per month after that. Go slowly and aim to go slowly, because then you will hit your targets and you won’t feel like giving up. When you get within five to ten pounds of your target weight, assuming that you have lost a lot of weight, throttle back a little and allow yourself a little more leeway. Drop your target to one pound a week, so that you will get a feel for ‘eating normally’.

The dreaded exercise; you have to face it, you will need to do more exercise, but two times thirty minute walks a day is ordinarily enough. You could swim once a week too or get an exercise machine, if you are tied to the house by family.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with how to lose weight online. If you have an interest in losing weight too, please go over to our website now at Why Can’t I Lose Weight?
